Ol Green Had a heart attack last night

Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

Totally sucks - sorry to hear that.

I will have an extra cam and lifters when my own engine rebuild is done, but I'm afraid we're talking months, not days or weeks :|

My worry is that this engine is just tired and if I go throwing a gasket kit, refreshed head, and a cam that something else will break. This truck was not very well taken care of and I think shes beginning to show her age and unmaintained wear. The other patrol does't seem near as beat. I think I'm going to throw my rebuilt carb and starter on parts patrol and see how it runs and then go from there. As far as valve lash, I adjusted it all to spec. But that goes back to the lack of maintenance by the previous owner and running it with the valves out of adjustment...
