names kev, im from the monaro in southern nsw Australia. pretty much like anything that's 4x4 and when not working i am usually fiddling with my 4by's, and when holiday time comes im usually driving said 4by's to some remote spot to hunt/fish/hike/camp.
currently i have 5 g60's, 2 running, 2 for "parts" and one long term project which has dragged on twice the time it should have due to finances and personal injury's:
"red six" 1976 short wheel base g60 which is actually orange rather than red, lots of little mods, stock drive line and too much rust to bother repairing, so i use her as a farm hack and do the odd bit of 4wd'ing in her, particularly rock crawling which with the 35's on she excels at.
"hermit" 1977 g60 ute, name comes from the color (hermitage 2) and from her limited use during her life with her previous owner of the last 20 years. she is my running daily driver, and sports 160 liters worth of useable fuel capacity, 5 speed mk patrol gearbox, disk brake conversion on the front and a 4.1 efi falcon petrol motor, all engineered. she is very neat and tidy and im trying my hardest to keep her that way. niggling overheating issues is the biggest bug bear atm, but ill get it sorted in time
"the last guard" or grip as i call her (the last guard against everything soft in modern 4x4's). she is my long term project which i started on about 2 years ago. the ultimate aim being to have a reliable and reasonably powerful TURBO DIESEL g60 running as my road registered work rig. she has had all the major repair work done, and has had her heart transplant. that being the sd33t motor and 5 speed box from a mid 80's mq/mk patrol. mq diff's front and rear, power steering and twin fuel tanks, as well as a fresh coat of paint sum up the way she is currently. things to do include mounting the tray. making the final engine position adjustments and making up a custom radiator, doing the wiring, installing new brake pads and shoes, and replacing the last of the worn suspension components in the front end.
both parts rigs are 72 models, one a mwb soft top ute, and the other a blue swb wagon which may eventually get all the good bits from redsix and be put back on road.
have owned heaps of various 4by's and played with double that again, but i like the old patrols, they just have some magic about them.
