Again, just personal commentary - not being critical - I respect other peoples' rights to make their own choices with their vehicles (just as I expect them to respect my choices with mine).

but based on what I see (from pictures posted on the Internet, lol ) It's a tough call on those seats - unless the original vinyl and stitching was so far gone that it would split if you sat on it, I might have considered trying to recondition the original vinyl first - that big hole looks ugly, but would not be unexpected in a 45 year old seat. I've seen old vinyl patched, and the patch blended back into the existing vinyl so well that you had to have someone point out the patch, otherwise it would have been unnoticeable.


and even with all the work that's been done, I would totally agree that this truck should have a 20k+ market value -

The only bummer with that is that you never know what a classic is "worth" until you hear the hammer, and the word "SOLD!"

But if Lou's friend really paid 5k for this one, then the previous owner paid HIM (a lot) to take it away...

He did angst over reupholstering the seats, but the vinyl was beyond repair.

Keith - I didn't get a pic of the muffler, sorry. I will have him send me one. And the upholstery shop is next door to Lou's shop, nothing spacial about it.

Behind the left rear tire. A note about this location: the tail pipe gets all of the road debris thrown up from the tire. I know the FJ40 has it routed this way also. This makes for frequent replacement of tail pipes.
