But... I'll wager a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies that you won't be able to resist taking it off to inspect it

You win...
I took a look at the pressure plate, disk and flywheel yesterday afternoon - the flywheel still had lap marks on it from the last time it was resurfaced, and the disk was clean, flat and was 14.8mm (factory spec is 15mm, so virtually no wear on it at all)
The pressure plate springs all looked good, and the plate had 2 minor blue spots where it looked like some sand might have gotten caught between the disk and the plate, so I cleaned those spots up with some emory cloth and buttoned everything back up.
Then I taped up all the openings on the engine and bellhousing, slopped a bunch of chemical stripper over the entire assembly, and let it soak for an hour before going to town on it with the pressure washer...
NOTE to all you Patrol owners- If you feel like your Patrol's performance is too sluggish (even for a 50 year old tractor engine), then you MIGHT want to consider removing the 600 pounds of extra paint that your engine might be wearing
I counted 4 layers on this engine block, and 4 layers (of different colors, lol) on the clutch bellhousing - my driveway looked like a confetti factory after I was done with all the stripping, scraping, and pressure washing.
and the best part is that I'll get to go it all AGAIN on the tranny, transfer gear, and PTO
