Clean new Patrol parts....... :ugeek:
Hey Dave what would you suggest the minimum spec required to run a media blasting box at home. I've always though one of these would be an awesome tool to have :text-threadjacked:

I ran a blaster.....I should say limped along with a 5.3 CFM (cubic feet minute) @ 90 psi $250 small tank but totally stupid and only worked with a short fat hose...Burn-out situation. Stupid.
I bought a 15.8 CFM at 90 psi with a 60 gallon $700 and that rocks the house.... mostly cause it is not bolted to the floor and when I forget to turn that pup off and it goes off dancing across the floor at 2:13 am. Oh, my neighbors love me. :P
That's like shooting a 22 vs. ....say a B.A.R. They both shoot but the burlier the better. Crap analogy but I got to talk some macho gunworks, I'm working on my redneck.
Two factors Tim. One is CFM. Two is tank size. You need 12 CFM (just a feel) minimum. The tank size allows a longer work rate/time, I'd go as big as affordable......not less than a shop compressor. BTW, this pup can run air tools all day......and paint sprayers too. I was at a big city home center and noted the prices of such compressors to be wayyyyyyy down. I knew my protest letter would be heard!!! Right Ferdy? ;) ;)
The cheap cabinets work fine but with some mods can be really fine. They come with a plastic viewing panel, buy the tear away protection covers. The ricocheting blast media will frost the inside of the plexyglass too and so its life is limited. When mine was like looking into a blizzard I cut out the center of the plexy, replaced with a frame and glass that then can be removed for a fresh one. The box I have has a fairly flat bottom and I cant help[ but think a bigger box with a funnel shape bottom would cycle the material better. I just pick the damn thing up and bang the media back over the feed orifice. Cave, works!
Tim, go big little brother! ;)

Great info and a good laugh as always thanks Dave! :D I'll be getting 15amp hook up in the new shed to run my Mig so that also opens up the option for a heavier duty compressor. Now off to convert CFM to LPM ;)

12cmf minimum and it will be working hard,15cmf if you have the space would be better and you are not moving it around
As for nailing gun it all depends on the situation at hand, paslode gas gun are the go here for portability and versatility ,workshop you cannot go past air compreeor and a good air gun.in respect to on site I would go the gas and battery framer and .finishing gun.
Steve either is good ,but having a compressor, work at home ,and cost saving of just having to buy the gun as opposed to the gas gun, one off job,,i would buy the air gun.

Hold back the safety bar and you can shoot about 30-40 feet with it. Fantastic rooftop technique for getting crows to leave your lunch alone.
Oh, and wear safety glasses! ;)

My Senco IV framing gun shat seal yesterday, at the end. Bought a new Paslode today. Senco seal kit is cheap like $10. Will rebuild it and keep as a spare

Dave, paslode is safe to pull back safety and shoot, shot a few nails at the fence, FUN
