Lots of parts

Not sure how to drag the link to craigslist here, but this guy has a lot of parts. Phoenix craigslist (nissan patrol) he is in Queen Creek. Name is Mark. Im trying to get the front seat and some doors from him. I called him a while back, but hard to get ahold of. We need to grab these parts. If he has what i need i will make a trip over there within the next couple of weeks. If anyone needs me to pick up some parts, let me know. I get a discount to ship UPS so it might be cheaper for me to ship to you. Just cant be too big. Let me know.

This guy is literally 15 minutes east of me - just left him a message to call me back.

If he calls me back today, I'll run over there this evening and see this stuff in person.

Exactly- the only advantage with fitting the Toyota axle into a Patrol is that parts will be easier to find, and there are more aftermarket mods out there (disk brake kits, etc)

Even the smaller axle used in SWB Patrols is still stronger than a Toyota FJ40 axle.

Now, here is another consideration that is Universal (not just Patrols or FJ40's) - ALL axles that have an offset differential and a short-side/long side axle configuration face an inherent design weakness- the short side axle shaft is ALWAYS weaker than the long side shaft, because the longer the axle shaft, the more torsional (twisting) load it can absorb before breaking.

Short side axle shafts are twice as likely to break under the same stress as the long side shaft.

I'm totally high-jacking the original toic- Sorry. I spoke to this Mark guy last night, and I am going over to see this stuff on Thursday or Friday evening.

He actually has an interesting family story- his deceased father had 3 Patrols (65, 67, and 69) and was actually one of the few Nissan certified Patrol Techs in the southwest. He started his own repair shop in the 70's after Nissan stopped selling Patrols in the US, and whenever a Patrol came into a Phx Datsun dealership for repair, they would farm the work out to him...

I will post an update after I go to see him later this week.

Cool! I think I've heard of his father before. I think he also did some Baja type racing with a Patrol, if it's the same guy. I'd like to get out there too, at least to experience the place. Maybe I'll head out that way around Thanksgiving. I should be back on my own 2 feet by then.
