The very "un-Nissan" master cylinder in my Patrol:



Has finally been positively ID'd - it's a Dorman part for a 1966 Ford F100 pickup-

Now, why is it cool that my Patrol has been converted to use a Ford Master cylinder, you ask? Well- Because Master Power Brakes already has a sweet little power brake conversion kit for mid-60's F100's that uses a dual reservoir, and a nice small little 8inch booster, which should fit on the Patrol firewall (unless the tape measure is lying to me- It was pretty dark out there when I looked at it an hour ago)...

As soon as the sun is up tomorrow morning I'll take a second set of measurements to see whether the booster will fit for sure, and to see if I have a tapped source on the intake manifold (or a drillable boss) for a 3/8 inch vacuum hose- if so, then I might be rolling on power brakes pretty soon...

Good information the one you've posted. I see that the previous owner did change the mounting as well. It will end up looking nice with your ideas.

You're not alone in the Ford Master Cylinder department. I have one as well. I probably should start a separate thread on the minor mods that I've done to mine, and discuss there more details. What I have is a Nissan booster with an extension structure and a double circuit Ford master cylinder, that initially was fitted to another Patrol that had a hydraulic clutch, and I needed to clear that cylinder.

The last time that I serviced the original master cylinder, it was beyond repair, and coupled with the lack of parts, I decided to install the Ford master cylinder and do it with the double circuit pump. I stayed with the 1" diameter. This is a picture of my setup. It's been 9 years and I've been extremely satisfied with the change.

That's a great looking setup Esteban. I like how you mounted the adjustable proportioning valve up where you can easily access it to make adjustments.

Here it is. The intake manifold has two plugs. A small one on the left of the picture, that's use to connect a vacuum meter for testing. The other one, marked in the picture is the one I use to connect the hose that goes to the booster. You can find ready made adapters that will thread in this hole. In my case, I soldered a piece of tubing after drilling the plug.

All Patrols should have these two plugs, so you only need to source the adapter.
