Oh sorry must have miss understood, I thought you said you were looking at 33's?

I wouldn't touch the Chinese remakes, I believe you get what you pay for with tyres but that's just my humble opinion :D

I was looking at the 33s. I was trying to see what others were running and what had to be done to accommodate them. I really don't want to have to lift at this point.
Not sure of the origins of the tires I was looking at, but was told, by another source a few years ago, when the molds went to China, this tire would no longer be available in the US.

A few 33X10.50-16 (P78) and a few 31X9.50-15 (N78). Note the Gateway name has been ground off. These were the mud tires to have back in the 70/80s where I grew up.

So I'm looking at a set of the N78 31-9.5-15s. I would like to mount them on the original wheels but I am concerned about the rim size. Anyone have any problems with running a 9.5 width on the stock wheels?

I have 30 x 9.5 x 15LT Yokohama Geolanders. No issues. We have 4 full seasons, they run great....they're on my toyota pick up too.

You should be fine with those. That is the same size tire I am running on my red '66 on the stock wheels.

That looks sooooo good!
My 63 was originally red. Eventually it will again. I just don't have time or room to work on it right now.
