roll bar help
Heck, I'm not even a purist, but the "J" word hurts-seriously though, your best bet is to take it a local welder, preferably a welder who likes 4x4s, and have him fabricate a rollbar that requires as little drilling and/or welding to the Patrol as possible, it needs to be mounted either above a strong body mount or directly to the frame. Many people simply bolt rollbars to sheet metal but then it is only as strong as the sheet metal should the time ever come when it is tested. Even if you could order one ready made shipping such an awkward bulky item would be pricey.

; Haha, sorry! Being a former Heep owner, guess it makes me more willing to say it...But seriously... I just look at it as canibalizing a more common and lesser vehichle to improve my Patrol, and keep from killing myself... If theres a junk kaiser-heep sitting anywhere near my Patrol, and I need a brake light switch, its as good as gone... The roll bar in mine is actually out of an S-10, but I did at one time have one out of a Heep. It would have fit perfectly, but I sold it to a buddy for his Heep. Came across the S-10 roll bar, which required alot of cutting and welding, but its a helluva lot thicker than the factory Heep roll bar...Good luck getting a roll bar built... I wasnt able to find anybody around here... Only places that had a bender was exhaust shops, and they told me they wouldnt for fear of losing sleep in the case that the roll bar didnt ; hold up in a roll over. Wasnt able to find one until way after I had chopped up the S-10 roll bar...

roll bar help
The photos of the tan '69 Patrol named Sandy that I used to own had a roll bar from a CJ-7 in it. Again, a Heep bar, but it worked and fit quite nicely with some minor mods. It served the purpose and was el cheapo. -Jeff

Good question! I've been looking into the roll bar thing and have settled on custom making one which is based on the 1994 Landrover County 110, North american specs. (I'll say my hail marys later) The 110 inorder to meet US DOT standards had an outside rool cage fitted over the roof and around the sides, attached mid way down the body. I don't know what was underneath the attachment points, but it did pass DOT requiments. I'm working on mine the same way but have decided I will attach underneath the vehicle to the frame, just behind the doors and at the rea to the 6" steel bumper I'm making. All in all it's taking a while, but if it worked for LR it'll work for Nissan Patrol. I own 2 suzuki samurais, Hail Mary forgive me for I have sinned against thy patrol, a toyota 4runner, I am not worthy of thy patrol, 4x4 suburban, thy patrol be blessed, have owned - UAZ 469b, hallowed be thy patrol, daihatsu rocky, I shall sin no more against thy patrol and tought combat cross country driving in a HMMWV(hummer), and shall pray I be forgiven all my trepasses against the best and greatest, humble, patrol. Amen. forgive me my brothers?
