Gauges

Post by Mattbob53 »

So I'm not gifted in art, so I can't free hand paint my gauges. But I do know how to draft in cad. This is what I have done so far. I'm hoping to create a templet someone could use if they decide to pull them apart.

What I'm not sure of is what's next? Any ideas would be great. Maybe get some stickers made and use the negatives of the stickers after the base is painted.

Great stuff.

Could you do one in Kilometers as well ???

Could you also put circles for the screws and a box for the milage?

I have access to a vinyl cutter/printer. I use a very basic program called CUTSTUDIO to 'print' (cut) basic signage. It imports .JPG .EPS .AI .STX files. Not that I know what they all are and how CUTSTUDIO really uses them. So if you could output your CAD to them I could see what I can do.
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

Esteban may have some input on this, I think he has tried something similar.

Yes I'll add the screw holes. Take a picture of the kilometers one and post it and I'll give it a try.

Outstanding work!! You are very talented.

This will be a great help for many.

I attempted something else some years ago as RiverPatrol mentioned. Since my original speedometer was in km/h, I decided to do an insert for the inner part, in MPH. I relied on the closest font that I had, but had not much in common with the original. It turned out good, and I printed in photo paper and then glued to the face of the speedometer. It didn't last but a few months, since the typical summer heat inside the cabin raised the paper and the look was ugly. After that, RiverPatrol was kind enough to make available for me a MPH speedometer.

Here's the picture of the insert:

Having issues getting the numbers done. I'd be more than happy to send the cad files to anyone that wants them or thinks they have a solution.
