Green Machine Rebuild Starts 5-9-16 - Patrollee Help Needed
Ok, if the shipper keeps his schedule I finally get Green Machine from MadTripper Monday. Because I haven't exactly come completely clean with my wife on the second Patrol yet it will go straight into the mechanic's shop for the few things it needs, then paint and body where it will emerge in about 90 days as CCV5. By that time I will surely have done something nice for my wife that may soften her cold hard heart for another hunting rig.
I'm a veg.....Danny...I can't pick a color. Please provide your input. Each response indicates a vote and highest vote count might very well be selected. Please take these points into consideration:
a). I'd prefer an authentic 60 Series color.
b). The original color seems to be a pale blue or gray.
c). I think I want the interior vinyl and door trim to be either black or gray...but I'm open to suggestions.
d). Patrol #1, or Command & Control Vehicle #4 (CCV4) will pretty much be a copy of Ivan's, flat sand with black trim, that will be for rougher treks, it will be permanent convertible with removable roof rack and bikini top. Stock suspension, we can lose the low end torque with with over spec tires, rear locker
e). Field experience indicates the military green and black trim of my 73 Thing has lesser effect on wild animals than my white truck. But I love the dirty white original color.....but I like every color except the reds, they are out. Love that Turquoise greenish color, what color is that?
f). CCV5 will be a permanent hard top..until I have a lifting frame built for easy one person removal.
g). I think I would prefer a color whereby undercolor chips in paints are harder to see, rather obvious.
h). CCV5 will be driven off road and brush marks will be common.
Repaint Points
a). Exterior color?
b). Interior color?
c). Is top white or not?
d). Is removable back shell the same color or contrast to tub?
e). Black floorboard and firewalls?
f). Dash and glove compartment color?
g). Should exterior air vents contrast or same color?
h). Steel wheels to match exterior, silver paint or black paint?
Naturally pictures supporting your recommendations would be appreciated, but not needed as I know uploading pics takes time away from Patrolling.
Thanks in advance.

Not to everyone's taste, but my all time favorite is yellow and black.

What would you call it if it weren't green? It would be silly to call something white the green machine? Or, maybe you can paint it a colorchanger color - remember those hotwheels cars that you could change the color by putting them in water?
Can't wait to see what this looks like when all is said and done.

Ok, thank you for your votes. I hadn't seen that yellow one yet. Question...that looks like a left hand drive Patrol. Where did he get that snorkel? Do we have access to those? I still haven't seen a Patrol paint scheme I don't like.
We have about four weeks before the paint starts flowing. Gotta get er first.

The yellow one in the link is indeed LHD. Both of the yellow ones have snorkels. No idea where they came from, but I would imagine they were custom made. I think 2869ral is working on making one up.

Just a note The Green Machine is now a Texan...it doesn't take long. The Mosheen remains solid but needs about six month of therapy. We will start at the bottom and work our way to the top.

Yippee!
You really need to get a digital camera, or a smart phone.

I took pictures....I have 24 pictures and I have uploaded them to Picasa. I'm hald way there I think....one thing for sure I need a passenger door external handle and the three interior cages for the three vents above the dash. Otherwise it is rust elimination and rehab. Pictures coming.

63's did not come originally with the windshield vent screens, so that would probably be why those are missing...L60Boerne wrote:I took pictures....I have 24 pictures and I have uploaded them to Picasa. However- I do have a full set of those screens that I could send you (assuming I can find them- They are in a box, in my garage, under another box, behind an engine... well, you get the idea
I might be able to help you out with the passenger door handle as well, but don't hold me to that - I have to take a count, and make sure I have all the handles I need for my own projects first.
Just PM me your address for delivery, and I'll see about that door handle, and will get a shipping quote worked up for you.
