thanks for the posting on the service manual. I reviewed the voltage regulator section - and its a bit too complicated for me. I think I will need someone to repair the regulator for me, or I will need to purchase a replacement. in the meantime, I can still enjoy the patrol - i'll just plan on charg...

No I didn't do that. I wasn't sure what the instructions to do that are.

I tried installing a brand new ford voltage regulator for a generator - it has the same selection of wires - arm, field, batt, ground. it seemed to turn the generator into a motor. Its a little crazy, but if i dont use any accessories and i only start the patrol by the hand crank, how long could i go before needing to charge the battery? And how low voltage can the battery be and still be ...

I read a previous thread that says a toyota cj 7 will fit, just a little short.

I decided to remove my hardtop so i wont need to worry anout any hardtop clearances. Let me know if anyone is selling a rollbar. Thanks

hi guys, my battery started running down on the '67 patrol and I then observed that the generator is not charging the battery. I removed the generator and brought to the local shop - and they tested it and said its fine. I then reinstalled it and tried one of my ford voltage regulators for generator...

thanks esteban! i checked the wiring diagram and sure enough the green/white, and black wires dangling near the gages is for the dash mounted light. I hadn't noticed those wires a few months back and i found another source of power for the dash light. i'll fix it back up so its wired correctly.
