water pump
The P-40 engine water pump is totally different and won't fit. Although the 2 engines, P and P-40 are very similar, the timing cover is completely different, and with that the water pump footprint.

'65 L-60 differential
Adjusting a differential is a tricky procedure, so the best thing you can do, is put the complete front diff assembly as it is right now, into the rear. I've done this procedure. In my case, I didn't have locking hubs, but the interesting fact is that the front differential gears wear on opposite si...

over all help needed!
The RHD or LHD tie rods are the same thread, until 1978, when Nissan made the change to metric all around (in fact, they're the same, with only the grease fiiting changing side). With that in mind, fairly new stock will be as you said, metric, and will not fit. The great thing about the Patrol tie r...

4x4 enganged?
Raise one front wheel and one rear wheel on supports and put the car in gear, and see if they move while the engine is running. Both should. Since there are no lockers on the Patrol, it's safe to do this test. Block the other wheels for safety.

New alternator
The F is the Field terminal, and where you connect the regulator. The N terminal is used to control the light in the instrument panel (when available) but through the regulator. One way to bypass the regulator, is to connect a wire from the BAT terminal to the F. Raise the rpm to around 1500. The ...

Rear Main Seal
The rear seal is a rope or wick type, consisting of two pieces of rope, with graphite impregnated asbestos. You can only change the bottom half without taking the whole engine apart. The upper half requires removing the crankshaft. Check this site for some tips on installing this type of seal: http...

P40 distributor fit L60?
You don't need to do anything with the base attached to the block. The distributor has a plate that you will need to modify a little bit. I'm including a picture from the parts manual showing this plate. You probably will need to use the old plate on the new distributor, as they normally don't come ...

P40 distributor fit L60?
Yes, it will fit perfectly. Only the orientation of the distributor base (attached to the block) varies a little.

gas vent on top of tank?
The vent in the gas tank helps when you're refueling, and it's crucial for it. Otherwise, it will be painfully slow to fill up. Could be the source of the smell in your garage.

Gasket set
Buy the gasket set with confidence. For the job intended, the gasket set is a perfect match. The differences between a P40 and a P engine gasket set, are for the timing gear cover gaskets, and the water pump that are totally different, and easily done. In my case, I've used the P40 gasket set a coup...
