Why does everyone want to make changes
Steve, I think the best thing about the G60 is that they are basic. Newer 4wd's are probably more capable and comfortable but you're not going to want to risk taking them into places you'll happily take a G60. I use mine in the national parks in NE Victoria (AUST.) for day trips and to collect firew...

mark's 5 speed no longer available
Aussie, I thought that the mark's gearbox casing was made by "mark's" and used toyota dyna internals. What ever the make up, itis a pity that they don't seem keen to manufacture any more of them. Richard

mark's 5 speed no longer available
All, I can also vouch for the benefits of installing a Mark's 5 spd box. I was lucky enough to buy a second hand box from a wrecker for $1500 AUS. It cost me a further $1500 AUS to have it installed by a mechanic. I'll have to dig through my receipts but there were issues associated with the lengthe...

American Engines
I have been told that a Chrysler Hemi (265) is a good conversion. I have also seen a 351 Clevelend in one Patrol. The conversion I'm considering is a Ford 250 (6 cylinder). Marks 4wd Conversions have a Kit available for this swap. I don't know what this engine is called in America but was used in Au...

G'day Chris and Aussie (and anyone else reading), I'm from Tallangatta Victoria. It's great to finally find a site for 60 series Patrols. I've spent a while looking for a site and only stumbled across this one this evening. I have found other people from Aust. & NZ on the net trying to find a si...

Patrol Sighting!
I live in the Albury/Wodonga region (border of NSW and Victoria) and I know of ten G60's in the area. Two are farm hacks but the rest are daily commuters. It appears from the photos in this site that America has a high percentage of short wheel base vehicles.

rebuild or sell?
If you can make your patrol a better machine by making modifications..do it. I have fitted a locally manufactured five speed g/box to my '78 G60 and completely transformed the performance. I now have a "lower" low range and can cruise comfortably at 100-110 km/h (60+mph). I would now like ...
