P40 or PPU rebuild kit??

I have read many of the old posts hear and just wanted to see if I could get clarification.  Doe the P engine resemble the nissan forklift P40 engine or the PPU engine?  It sounds like Grant ran in to a few problems with the P40 rebuild kit.  Would the PPU rebuild kit match the Patrols P engine more...
