My G60

This is where I’m up too. Still dismantling at this point. Head is off and ready to go back on. Guards, bonnet, bumper and radiator support panel off. Motor reconditioning kit here. That is bearings, rings, gaskets all here. The jack stands you can see have been moved to improve access at front. I n...

Re: Location dowel

Thank you John. When you put the head back on, how did you do it without the head gasket moving? We have a place near by that sells bolts. I am considering taking a head bolt down there and see if I can get a bolt of the correct length minus the head of the bolt. I’m a long way from putting the moto...

Location dowel

Did you know there are 19 pages in “Engine and Mechanical”? I’ve read all of them. What I need is a photo of the top of the block on a P40 motor please. That’s the first bit. Secondly, I need to know where the locating dowels go to fit the head back on the block, also the size of the dowel. I’ve bee...

Still here.

I haven’t posted much. Been to busy pulling my beast to bits. I’m not sure if there’s a limit to how little one can post. It’s 30 years since I last had a 60. So you can imagine it’s a steep remembering curve. I’ve also spent bucketloads of time in the archives and manuals. Thanks. I do have questio...

Re: Parts Manual

Thank you number 3, I think. Now for me, this manual is what I am dealing with right now. I have a 1976 model which has seen better days. I really need to get the body to bits. This manual will help with that. It’s nice to have a manual in our “collect”. Another matter entirely to be able to put the...

Re: 1978 Service Manual

It seems to be the “thanking” time. Thank you for this manual. I do have a print copy coming but this is excellent. I can print out the pages I want and if they get destroyed, who care. Again, thank you.

Re: A few minor updates

Very nice. Will be pleased if mine finishes up that good. I am at the pull to bits stage. A very long way from where you’re at.

1976 G60

Hello. Introduce yourself it said. So here I am. Husband of one, father of three now retired. This G60 is my third in 30 or so years. It is reasonably unmodified. It does have a GQ front bumper on it and requires a lot of restoration work. Really looking forward to learning and hopefully helping whe...
