Re: Bearing removal on H260 axle shafts

Between esteban's pic and some stuff I found on another site for H233B, I think I have a plan of attack. Apparently the thing to do is pull against the big flange. I can put something together to make the pullers I have work. This is apparently the factory nissan tool for pulling the bearing on the ...

Bearing removal on H260 axle shafts

Hi folks! It's been a while!! I've been putting this off way too long and I really have no excuse. I'd like to actually get the Patrol I've owned for over 10 years, that I've only driven once, running and back on the road! I've replaced the brake cylinders on all 4 corners and have all new/rebuilt s...

Re: Transporting a truck on a trailer

This is my setup. I use tire straps as my main "unsprung" tie-downs. I also have axle straps for certain rigs, but I prefer the wheel straps. On some trucks, like my hardbody, I will strap the chassis down too. That thing is so flexy and has so much spring that it looks like a bobble head ...

Re: Brake shoe thickness?

Yep, riveted. I'm guessing they're glued too. They did a lot of industrial and big truck stuff. They may have gone a little overboard for a Patrol! The heads of the rivets are stamped "8.8" which makes me think they're steel and not brass tube rivets too. I need to do a grind test to make ...

Re: Brake shoe thickness?

Well, as I suspected, the lining they installed is measuring about 9.7mm (.38"). The problem I'm seeing is that if I can grind it down to the property thickness, I'm going to be getting dangerously close to the rivets. Some of them would have maybe 1/16" of meat over them and others may on...

Re: Brake shoe thickness?

Nacho gracias!

I'll measure when I get home. From memory, I'm thinking what they used was probably closer to 3/8". Maybe a good excuse to go by a little spindle sander!

Brake shoe thickness?

Does anyone know what the thickness of the brake shoe lining is supposed to be? I had all of mine re-lined by a shop in Ft. Worth...about 2 years ago. Now that I've moved 3 times and finally have a shop again, I'm trying to put everything back together so I can drive this girl. New cylinders ...

Re: Drum brake springs - orientation and location?

^^

Good stuff. That actually exactly opposite of how I thought they were supposed to go. The "heavier" spring is actually smaller, but takes more force to pull. There was no way I was going to stretch that thing to fit on the cylinder side of the pad.

Drum brake springs - orientation and location?

I'm working on putting my brakes back together. I took everything apart about 2.5 years ago, had the shoes relined and bought new cylinders...then I had to move before I could put it all back together....and then I moved a couple more times. 2.5 years later, I have a place to work on it and all new ...

Hey

Hi folks! I've been MIA for a while....looks like I missed some excitement over the past couple years. I still have the '69. I moved 3 times in the last 2 years and finally settled in North Carolina. Bought a house with a garage bay that is dedicated to the Patrol. Working on getting the brake...
