This is, without a doubt, the best car related story that I have read, and to be it featuring a Patrol is even better. I highly recommend to any Patrol lover to read it. Slowly. The apreciation for yours will grow tenfold.

Thanks Dave for posting it. And the author of this amazing piece deserves a special thanks!
Owner of the same Patrol since 1967

How can Roy Rogers Patrol be identified? He used to own a large ranch just south of Winslow, maybe it's here somewhere?

A very nice read... and very impressive use of "junk parts" , a handfull of tools, and whole lot of innovation and ingenuity...

swapping in a V8 without access to a welder? I can't imagine.

There was (maybe still is) a Roy Rogers museum in Apple Valley, California, U.S.A. Although I have been to Apple Valley, I didn't visit the museum, but from what I read about it at the time, Mr. Rogers' Patrol was on display there.

The RR museum in Apple Valley closed many years ago... then it moved to Missouri, and it closed there in 2009.

The Roy Rogers Patrol is out there.... somewhere.

I would think it would be easy to spot if it ever surfaced, since it was painted that dark metallic green color... ???

Where did u get that it was dark "metallic green"? The one in his add in 64 is green but not metallic. No telling if that's the one they gave him or not. I would think that it was!

I don't know... it just looked metallic to me, especially the wheels

Might just be the photo color or lighting playing tricks
