Patrol Replacement Springs - What's Available in 2024?

I've been thru all the threads regarding replacement springs for our Patrols, and I'm more confused and have more questions now than before.

My Patrol needs at least new front springs. Although it is low mileage, a lot of those miles were with a hydraulic Western snowplow and associated equipment perched on the front. The distance between the top of the front axle and the rebound bumper is less than one-half of what the specs in the repair manual calls for. I want a stock replacement spring, no additional lift over original.

Looking thru these various threads, I see that various forum members have used springs from Alcan Spring, Donovan Spring, and Deaver Spring, with the most purchasing from Alcan. But it looks also like folks have had the most problems with Alcan springs not fitting, very very stiff ride, etc.

I am soliciting input regarding sources for stock-type springs that have been used on our USA-spec Patrols -- source of the springs, part numbers if you have them, and how they fit and rode. Please help!

Have you considered having your existing springs re-arched? I think L60Boerne has the most experience with refurbishing springs.

Thanks River for the input. I've seen a number of comments (not only here but on the Studebaker forums that I frequent) that re-arching doesn't last.

That said, re-arching would definitely be an option depending on the availability (and cost) of new stock configuration replacement springs. (I'm really not interested in any "lift" on this Patrol.)

Hopefully David will see this and provide some input on how re-arched springs worked on his Patrols.

There is a question as to the longevity of re-arching. I mentioned this to the owner of a spring shop. He said it won't last when they do it pneumatically. He uses heat, hammer and anvil which he says is the trick to making them last. I don't know from experience though. He did re-arch the springs on David's Pinto Patrol that way, so David will have to chime in with a review.

Anyone familiar with Old Man Emu springs? Apparently they have at least three different front springs for 1960 thru 1980 Patrols:

Whether these are for AUS spec or USA spec Patrols, it doesn't say. Also, since ARB/Old Man Emu appears to be a big offroad parts supplier, these are probably lift springs. The data listed came from some different websites, so I'm taking that with a grain of salt. Note that the p/n CS010FB data said the amount of lift was 40mm, which is 1-1/2".
