Door Hinge Pins

Original and compatible parts

Postby hartmanjw » Thu Sep 13, 2018 3:26 pm

Anyone know where front door hinges (or just the pins) are available for purchase? Maybe there is a compatible pin from another vehicle? If not, I noticed someone had fabricated a few. If the dimensions/specs are available on them, I can find someone here to build them and let everyone know the cost, once established. Thanks!

Nothing compatible out there. They can be made, might be the best option. Finding a used hinge isn't impossible either.
Beyond any hope for intervention

I’m lousy at posting pics, but I will text or E mail the drawing I used when making spare pins. Feel free to post copy here.
Some of the pins I made from 4130 and did a mild oil-quench hardening. Some others I used 5/8 drill rod and left unhardened. The pins for the lower hinge are about 1/4 inch longer. This makes it easier when hanging the door, since one pin can be started first. Also, I chose to make the knurled-spline portion shorter than original because it was easier
with the knurling tool I had available.
So,anyone, PM me an Email or text address and I’ll send pic your way.
Side note to Hartmanjw...I’m envious of your fierce-looking beast. My Patrol, 22232 is only a couple serial #s from
yours. (Sadly separated at birth). They are both what we call “68 sold as 69”models. There are several differences between these and “true” 69s. We still have the cool “banjo” steering wheel and round front signal lights.(not rectangular)

Would love to find some door pins or someone who would machine some.
