Front Steering Shock Absorber

Post by GARYSCC »

Hi, I'd like to replace the front shock absorber that mounts to the steering linkage. Is this shock the same as the front shocks?

It's a different type, although the shape is similar. The steering damper is in a horizontal position and has the same damping force in both directions. I will need to check mine to look for a reference. I think it's a Monroe.

Maybe other members have already sorted this out.

I always though a steering stabilizer shock was the same as a normal shockie. BUT NO IT ISNT, steering stabilizer shocks have to have no flat spots so when you change direction the shock always has the correct dampening etc. I read a good read up once which made sense.

EDIT, what Esteban said :)

Hi

BTW I called ARB here in the US and they said they had a single OMESD22 left in stock - it was at a warehouse in FL. It's now mounted on my PFP, the one I removed looked to be the original Nissan Tokico part.
I don't know when / if they will re-stock their US supply.
