Rear wheel cylinder mod for thick brake shoes

Post by RiverPatrol »

Sometimes, when you replace the rear wheel cylinders the brake drum doesn't want to go back on. This is usually caused by new shoes or shoes with a lot of lining left on them. This documented mod is a fix for those situations.

This mod was detailed by user CBlake on another site. Thanks CBlake!

First, I cut the edge down to get the steel insert out.

Then I used my Dremel with a high speed cutter to start shaving down the seat.

Then I dropped the steel insert into the milled out area.

Compared to stock, it's much better.

Finally, I cut the edges down so the pad would be able to seat completely against the steel insert.

IT WORKS!!
Beyond any hope for intervention
