I checked the odometer and it read 452118 . All number being in white and the last one in black which I'm assuming means 45211.8 miles. Or is it 452118 miles? In which case means it has a whole crapload of miles on it. I was always told that the last number on the odometer was in tenth of a mile or kilometre. Of course my auto shop teacher back in high school could have been talking out of his butt.

Ok cool. I wouldn't think that at that mileage the motor would need to be rebuilt? I'm ordering a complete set of freeze plugs from liftway for the komatstu ppu241 which I believe will fit. Then I'll pull the motor and change them. Won't be till winter likely as I have to fence 2 acres of pasture for my wife's horses. Anyone want some horses? Lol

I wouldn't think the motor would need a rebuild at only 50 000 miles? I'm going to start pulling the front and the ear shortly. What does everyone use as a engine/ trans cradle when that pull the engine and trans as a whole.

Unless it has been badly mistreated the engine shouldn't need rebuilding at that mileage.

I'm going to order a full set of freeze plugs for the block and head. I'm getting the ones for a ppu241 . Hopefully they will work. I'm am going to have to take the winch and the front bushbar off in order to remove the radiator support and to pull the motor and trans.

I'm sure the freeze plugs will work. In my notes I have them at 40 mm the side plugs (under the manifold) and the big ones at 50 mm (the fact that they are in mm is weird, considering this engine is all in standard sizes)

Once you receive your freeze plugs, measure them for future reference. And take some pictures during the install. Thanks.

Frost plugs are ordered and waiting for them to come in. I took the bumper and winch off the truck. A few broken bolts that I will have to extract but went well. I got all of wiring harness disconnected and pulled out of the front so I can pull the rad next. One question I have is that the pto on the transmission looks like it's going to need to be taken out in order to clear the firewall for removal. Is it just as simple as unfolding the pto assembly and pulling it out or is there more to the removal process? Too bad I couldn't do the freeze plugs with the engine in place

The PTO removal is pretty simple. Disconnect the linkage then unbolt it from the trans, it slips right out. Just be sure you've drained the transmission first.
