They say number 4 is the point that you are officially CRAZY

What's wrong with this picture...?

Image

NO RAIN.... :?: :?: :?: :?: What's going on here?

Anyway - I struck a deal with RiverPatrol for the rear seats, and the doors that I needed for my 62 softie, and I told her I'd come to get them after the stress of her move had passed, and she was settled into her new place.... A few days later I get another PM from her to the effect of:
.... What if these doors and seats of yours were still attached to the Patrol?   Could you bring your trailer and just roll the whole thing away? Otherwise I have to pay to have it towed out of here, and pay to have it stored until I get settled into my new place; and it's nothing more than a parts donor anyway... If you took it, you could take what you need off it, and scrap the rest- There's only one condition- it HAS to be out of here by end of day on the 21st "

So, what's a guy to do when faced with the prospect of driving to California (and back) for the third time in 4 weeks...? EXACTLY... he checks his tire pressure, checks his engine and tranny dipsticks on his truck, hooks up the trailer, slides his "Smoky and the Bandit" soundtrack CD into the stereo, cranks up Jerry Reed's "Westbound and Down" and hits the road... :auto-camptrailer:

http://youtu.be/3blKZsVrtLA

As is the case with all these other crazy one-day, Patrol related road trips of mine, I got home late, and just parked it until this morning, so here's how it sits- later this afternoon when it cools down a bit I'm going to start hitting it with the penetrating oil and start trying to break free rusty bolts all over it...

Long term- once the doors and other assorted goodies are taken from this one for the 62, This one still has a VIN tag that matches the frame serial number (it's a 65 hardtop), so after the rusty body is torn off it, I plan to clean up the frame and build it back up with all the good, rust-free parts from my red Patrol (The serial number on my red one suggests that it is also a 65 hard top, according to the Patrol registry, so that is a nice coincidence)

With the right parts from each of these 65 hardtop Patrols coming together, this one WILL live again....someday 8-)

4 Patrols...

Ya know, when I bought the softie, I comforted myself that I was still not as crazy as John Ballestrini...

Now, I am occupying the cell right next to him at the funny farm... :teasing-tease:

HAHAH I don't think what I forked over for this basket case is anywhere NEAR what Hadji is going to bring, when that day comes :D

I think there would be at least 2 more decimal places involved in that deal... :twocents-twocents:

Now, that's not fair! By "not fair" I mean "Now I gotta go find a FIFTH Patrol" -- You know, to keep my Patrol-Cred ranking!

I'm glad to see that you're making good use of the donor Patrol parts already. I told you that you'd like a lot of the stuff that was still on it. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Those early door hinges were mounted with actual bolts, so they are easier to remove. The later ones are mounted with countersunk phillips with star lock washers - almost impossible to remove without ruining them.
Beyond any hope for intervention
