The most common mounting place in Australia is on the bullbar (most bullbars come with arial mounting locations built in).

It's not the best location (that's normally center of the roof), but it's the most common.

Is a good tip to make you antenna about 3" higher then your car, so you always have a guide if you will fit in the lower carparks

Mine is mounted on the bullbar, I have a thin piece of tape around it leval with the roofline so i know as I approach a low roof/tree if I will fit or not.
