Numbers Matching, critical or no?

If it doesn't fit in the others but is 60 series related, post it up.

I have a general question for the forum. I purchased Patrol2 as a parts car to complete our 1967 Patrol Soft Top affectionately known as Edgar. Patrol2's frame is in better condition than Edgar's. Originally I had planned to cut the pieces out of the source vehicle's frame to build up Edgar, thus keeping him a numbers matching vehicle. That said it would be so much easier to just use Patrol2's frame as the foundation. What is the feeling of the group regarding keeping all major parts matching? Just curious. You all have so much more experience with this stuff than me. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

It is challenge enough to keep a Patrol on the road, fully operable. If you need to combine two Patrols to make one, then by all means. There is little value to an original Patrol that does not run and is incomplete. To hedge your bet, consider keeping all the original parts from both Patrols. If a subsequent owner wants to perform a restoration of a numbers matching Patrol, then you will be able to sell them all the parts!

Like Keith said, not really. I think it would only matter if it were a complete restoration to showroom condition, or in an original condition pristine Patrol.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Well, considering I am starting with two vehicles that would take an enormous amount of money and resources to get to that type of condition, decision made. I plan to put each piece side by side and pick the best one, regardless of which vehicle it came from. Thanks for the thoughts.
