Maryland Patrol is back

Hello Patrol folks!
I apologize for it taking so long to get on board with this forum, having participated in the old forums. Better late than never
Subject vehicle is a 67 L6010566 which you will find in the old registry.

I've owned it since 1982 or so, I had been looking for an original one for a long time and even back then they were hard to find. For the most part its life was spent near Death Valley in the CA desert. Never got stuck or broken down even with the original tires. As you can see they are split rim wheels. Getting harder to find people that will mount tires for the beast. When I moved to Maryland in 2000 I had it painted as we had to maintain an image in a neighborhood of Mercedes SUVs etc. Besides, the Patrol is a nice looking vehicle and deserved a nice paint job. Amazingly, rust has not been an issue so far. Everything else is original - mats, engine, dash, chrome etc.
My kids grew up with the Patrol and when Kim got married last September she requested that I drive her to the wedding in the Patrol - the dress pretty much fitted in but shifting was difficult.

I think that's a first for a Patrol.

What's next? well the springs have sagged so I have a new set to install. Just missing the shackles (help!). The bearings are going in the rear differential -metal in the drain oil. I have the replacements but its a big job. I've been reviewing the website and it is fantastic-everything I've been scraping up over the years (manuals, etc) is available here. Don't know what I can offer but will do what I can. If you are out in the Nation's capital region, let me know and come on by.

It is very special for me, since I'm very close in location, near Leesburg in Virginia, and there aren't other Patrols nearby with the exception of a G61 near Upperville, VA (not a forum member)

I also drove my daughter Margarita to her wedding in the Patrol so I know first hand how emotional that would have been. How's that for an added coincidence. And also, back in September I changed the bearings on the rear differential. I still need to prepare the post with some photos, and if needed, I can help you with that.

Esteban, lets get the rear diff fixed so I can drive out to see you as I have wanted for a long time. Wow, a Patrol as a limo for multiple weddings.

RP, Kim is the daughter who came out to your place a few years back to play with the dogs while we chatted.

To all others, I am not a restoration freak and drive this Patrol as much as possible. It looks original because I bought it as original and have basically done only mechanical stuff and a paint job. I will post more pictures as a project for your reference.

Here is a better wedding pict for those Patrol enthusiasts. Notice the air and heater vents are closed - the hairdo must stay perfect.

I thought so. You are a proud poppa - she has grown up to be a beautiful woman. The hair style and dress are actually very period correct for the Patrol. The first picture looks like it could be vintage.
