1965 Nissan Patrol on Bring a Trailer

This is a very sweet Patrol. The only thing I would do is replace the canvas top with a like original top. So often there isn't an original pattern available, so they make it like the FJ40 top, as was done here. This is an excellent specimen of an early survivor. I didn't think there were many SWBs in Colombia, maybe because it is a '65 and they weren't importing or producing the MWBs yet. Very cool.

Does anyone we know have an original top pattern? How about an original top in good-enough condition to have a pattern made from it? If so, does anyone want to split the cost of having a pattern made and digitized so we can share it with 60p? I'll even take the lead on it.

Leslie, all Patrol imported to Colombia were canvas top models. And almost all of them were MWB. So this example is rare in the sense that's a SWB. MWB Patrols were made from day one in Japan.

They've tried to duplicate the canvas top as was fitted in the G61, with the zippered laterals. Looks vinyl to me. I agree with you, the original canvas top will look much better. The side windows look out of proportion.

Yes. Already have a pattern, made from an NOS canvas top. I don't know that it's possible to digitize it, some of the pieces are very large. If you're interested in having a top made, PM me.

This weekend we are going to talk to the owner of the marina where we keep our boats. They have an upholstery service and this winter she is going to make custom covers for our Bayliner 2350-SS. I'm going to take the rear cargo section of the Patrol over there and let her look at it. Might be an option.

Be very gentle with that canvas top. Miller found out the hard way how fragile they can be when they dry out with age. It takes some pretty good tugging getting it out of the channels to take it off, that might be enough to rip it. Just FYI...

I am (well, actually was!) the owner of the 1965 Patrol listed on Bring a Trailer. I wanted to thank you for your very nice and extremely informative posts during the auction. I have no doubt that it helped tremendously to explain how special the Patrol I was selling was.

The Patrol will be going to the Malamut Auto Museum in California.
